Basically, all the computers on our small network can gain access to a
particular site, however, they are all running win 98.... the 3 computers
that cannot access this site are running win xp

i found a round about way to get past the login screen...
Basically, goto the login screen, login, accept the security pop-up and then
let it load for a little bit. (couple of "working" bars accross on the
bottom.
From there, disable the network connection, - sounds crazy, i know.... but
wah-lah.... a half loaded (meaning, links without pictures) elitenet page
appears..from there, activte the network connection again, and then click on
any of the links showing, -

so how do we fix this? we know it is not the network setup or the hub that
it is on.... its just the 3 computers running winxp that cant access this
site....
help help help. please

Are you using Internet Explorer on those three XP computers?

If so, add the site to the "Trusted" security zone. You could also
switch to using FireFox.

Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to
hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.

The HOSTS file is a means to resolve names to IP addresses. Unless
you've already entered something into it, it should not impact anything
to delete it.

If you have the site in the Trusted Zone, you should not be getting any
pop-up warnings.

Open IE, select Tools, Security Tab, Selected "Trusted Sites", click the
SITES button, enter *.domainname.com (enter the site name, use the *. to
allow all subdomains to use this setting), click OK, select "Custom
Level, on the RESET TO box, select "LOW" and click RESET button, answer
YES to the Warning, click OK to close the security settings window,
click OK to close the Internet Options Window, close all IE windows,
open IE, try site again.

What is the site name you can't reach?

I did what you outlined, and it still isnt working. It has something to do
with the login screen being a trusted site with the SEC 128 bit encryption on
it, and then the lock disappears on the bottom after a few seconds after
logging in..., i am assuming that means it is no longer in the 128 bit encryp
mode.. and then the page goes white, and just floats there. - I mean, y would
it let me get to the page after logging in, and then disconnecting once it
changed to the white screen... the 1/2 page loaded shows, and then i
reconnect , and its fine... ? doesnt make sense.. something is stopping it on
the login screen from appearing.. this is so confusing.
