i brought a labtop to my house and it connected from

Right click on your My Computer Icon, left Click Propereties, click on the hardware tab, then in the middle of that screen click on the device manager button.
Click on the + next to the Modem.
Right CLick on the modem that is there and choose "Remove"
It will tell you that you are about to remove this device from your computer.
Say yes.
Close all windows.
Click start, shutdown, restart.
When it comes back up it will find the modem again.
Do NOT point it to the creative install CD for the drivers.
Just have it click on the "Search and install automatically" option.
The Drivers for the Creative Modem do not play well with XP.
( It is actually a Davicom or Something Generic Driver that it will install)
However the default drivers that XP will load automatically work great.
At that point you may have to change your internet connection to point to this "New" modem to dial out.
and delete the old one!
You should be good to go, had the same problem myself.
Welcome :-)
