HELP!?! GAIN Security D/L pop up that WON'T GO AWAY!?!

OK I have had it.. tried just about everything. I have 4
pop up/ad blockers and I went and downloaded this fifth
one to go along with Kazaa called Supertrick that alters
your host file to block out ads/pop ups. But to no avail,
I walk away from my computer, and there is the Security
pop up askin me if I'd like to download DateManager and
GAIN software from The Gator Corporation (aka the BANE of
my existence)This is what I don't get tho, Gator has this
page that, if you click on it, it scans your computer for
Gator programs and/or related software/downloads.. and it
says I have NONE!?! So where is this coming from? I am an
online gamer with a game that fills the entire screen
during play, and when that pop up strikes, it throws my
game into a tizzy and its just downright getting
ANNOYING... I've found out the exact address for this pop
up and its variations and blocked them on all blockers,
and still.. no go. HELP!?!?

don't panic......

goto google and search for ad-aware
download it from lavasoft.com i think.
run it ....keep it updated....run it weekly.
 
Sorry guys.. downloaded adaware and yet again.. I was
playing my online game and it got shut down cuz of the
friggin pop up.. I really don't know what to do. I have
Tweak XP pop up and ad blockers, Pop Up Stopper, Spy
Sweeper, Ad Aware and something from Kazaa called
SuperTrick which alters your hosts file and blocks them
directly... and ITS ON THERE and yet I still get it... I
DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!?!?!?!

Could it be "Messenger service"? - these ones are using a part of the
Windows system. Either set the XP firewall on like it says here:

Or turn off the messenger service:

1. Try this first, start menu>all programs>startup then delete the GAIN icon
there. Reboot.
2. Bring up task manager and end process for cmesys.exe if it's still running.
3. Open windows explorer and go to program files/common files/cmeII. Rename the
folder cmeII_noload.
4. Go back to the common files directory and shift to the GMT folder. Go to
banners and delete everything in that folder. Next edit the permissions as
follows: administrators=full control, users=read,list folder contents, take out
everyone. Apply.
Gator *should* stop trying to popup ads at all after this, but the ewallet
client should still function normally without being broken.
