I saw a response from you to a user re setting up user accounts desktop. Can
you help me. I have two users and "Administrator" account and a family
account. I'm not trying to keep anyone from one or the other account but I
would like to set it up so that my icons for programs such a norton, reg
cleaner and all the diagnostic programs I'm using are on one desktop and all
the user program such a Word, my tax program and fasmily programs in general
are on another desktop. You get the idea. I'm using Win XP prof.

In C:\documents and settings there are several directories I understand :
Administrator, All Users, and "my family computer. But there are others such
as Administrator Account, All users.windows.

I don't show the "Administrator" on my logon screen.

Evidentally I set upo an "Administrator account" as a user account. The
only 2 accounts on the welcome screen are the Administrator account and the
family account. The others don't show.

This is too long but I hope you have an answer form. I certainly will
appreciate it.

I also put a message up tonight about lack of access to my floppy drive
(A:\) from explorer.

Thank you and HELP.

Just sending me to the right place will be a big help. So far no joy.

I don't show the "Administrator" on my logon screen.

1. The Administrator account does not show up when you start Windows
in the Normal Mode. You can change this with TWEAKUI.EXE > Logon or
start this account from the Safe Mode.
TweakUI is available from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp.
See "A Description of the Safe Boot Mode Options in Windows XP"
2. You can arrange the Desktop icons in the DESKTOP folders for your
user profiles in C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS. You should not use the
Administrator account for everyday's use, so if you mean that you have
two accounts now, Administrator and My Family, you should create a new
account and leave the Administrator account alone in the future,
except for that you run into serious problems which you may be able to
solve from this account (lost password, etc.)
3. ALL USERS and ALL USERS.WINDOWS: one of these accounts should not
be in use currently. Open a DOS box and type
SET |MORE
Press ENTER. Check the settings for ALLUSERSPROFILE. It will tell you
which folder is in use. The other folder can be deleted from the Safe
Mode.
