I've been buying an ASUS P/I-XP6N5 pentium pro motherboard for a few
years now and I've never had a problem.

But now when I switch on my computer I can read on screen
« Keyboard is locked out – unlock the key cmos checksum error
default loaded press F1 to continue DELto enter SETUP
09/02/96 – i440FX PIXP6N5C-00 »

I try to clear the user-entered information stored in the CMOS RAM of
the Real Time Clock without success.

Other information my computer d’ont boot on floppy, it just boot
on CD ROM or ZIP.

I would appreciate any help on my problem.

Regards,

François

It could be that the CMOS battery has run down.

I cannot find a manual for your motherboard on the Asus download site,
but on other motherboards, there are two pins on the Front Panel header.
This is the header that has the power switch, reset switch, power LED
for the front of the computer and so on.

Look for two signals called "KeyLock" and "Ground". They should be
adjacent to one another. If nothing is connected to those two pins,
then I think the keyboard will be unlocked.

HTH,
Paul
