I have just started with XP. I am able to access my camera automatically,
but only once per computing session without a restart. Win XP apparently
doesn't have separate set-up required for HP, they are recognized when
hooked up to USB port.

When I downloaded a series of 21 photos only the first 12 downloaded, the
rest would not copy from the camera using either group download or single
picture download. I am using a 32 meg compact flash card.

No previous problems with the camera when using Win98 and HP software which
apparently shouldn't be used with XP.

Any suggestions for these two problems would be appreciated.

You should check the HP site. I believe you need to download and install a
file for XP to read a 32 meg card or higher when using this camera.

I tried the HP site on 11/13/03, and found only a
document stating that you must buy a separate card reader
if the card is larger than 32 MB. I could find nothing
about this in Microsoft support.

Your information is correct. In order for you to download photos from a card
larger than 32 MB you will have to purchase a USB card reader. About $20.00
or so. You connect this card reader to your computer via the USB port and
place your card in it so XP can read it to download the photo files from
your card to your hard drive. HP does not have an update for this camera for
cards larger than 32 MB. A card reader is your only option.
