Hi,
Have a win2k pro connected to internet(cable). Account is
configured for DHCP. Sometimes when the sytem rebooted the
connection is getting lost. Event-viewer shows that DHCP
is trying to renew the IP address from the server. Most of
the time I ve to disable and re-enable the connection from
the LAN utility as it take long time to renew the IP
itself.

Can anyone say how can I get rid of this without assigning
a static IP to DHCP?

Thanks and regards
P Kris

Hello,

Do you have a personal firewall installed on your PC? That may be
interfering with the DHCP requests.

You really have to sniff the network traffic to troubleshoot this
problem.

The problem may also lie with your ISP's DHCP service. If you shut
down your computer for 30 minutes, when you turn it back on, do you
get an IP address quickly?
