I have about 10 different folders of JPG files inside another folder,
which is inside of "My Pictures".

I wanted to change the order in which the folders displayed
themselves. So I click into the main folder in which they are held,
then I dragged a folder near the end of the line, moving it to the
beginning of the line, which placed it over the folder at the
beginn9ing of the line. I then released the dragged folder, & it
diasappered. Gone. I tried it a second time with a different folder
& that folder to is gone. The folders in which I placed the dragged
folders over are fine, & have all of their original JPG files in them.

These folders that disappeared are nowhere to be found on my system.
Not even in the recycle bin. I've turned the computer off then on
again & still not there.

Can someone tell me what happened & how to recover theses missing 2
folders?

I spent a lot of time downloading those JPG files at dial-up speeds
off of usenet. Please reply here in this newsgroup (email address
invalid). Thanks.

Perhaps, you dropped the folders you tried to move to the top folder in the
list, open it and see.

LOL, JAX

Quit laughing. Yes that is what happened. I didn't see the folders
among the many JPGs I have there, even though the folders were listed
first (blened in).

I was just previously moving "favorites" from my Internet software
from one location to the other & that's how you do it (drag into
position).

Now if someone could tell me how to change the display order of the
folders, I'd appreciate it (folders show in a line, from left to
right).

Two suggestions for the future...

Use a right-click where possible.
When mistakes occur, immediately press <ctrl-z> which, in many cases,
UNDOs them.

Hi Zardoz,

Not really laughing, just a little snicker or two.
Check "Views" to see if it has anything to offer.

Ok. Never mind again. I figured out how to do it. Drag the folder
you want to move (like I did before when I lost it), place it right
between two folders where you want it moved to (being careful not to
be directly on one of those folders), then release, & it is
sucessfully moved.

You can't move it all the way to the front of the line, but you can
move it to second position, then move the one in first position to
another position, & there you go - folder moved to first postion.

Thanks for the tip about ctrl-z. I never heard of it before, but it
probably will come in handy some day.
