When I go to Help and click a hyperlink the results show but to the left of
the link is an empty box with a red X in it and the words "Hide content".

It is obviously an image but the image never shows and is beginning to get
annoying especially when I click the "Show all" at the top of the page...any
suggestions?

Thanks but I'm not confident that this is the same issue...and I'm alwalys
reluctant to do anything to the registry without more eveidence this will
work for this issue.

Thanks again.

***Overcoming fear of regediting by backing it up***

I'm not sure why you are reluctant if a regedit comes from a good source, to
try one if it's appropriate to your problem. Have you ever edited the reg
before? When you did did you deploy the reflex backups?

I'm editing the registry and it's not a deletion I'm positive on. What do I
do? You back it up? How?

1) Set a restore point.
2) Open regedit (type in run)>on Toolbar File>Export>Key or Whole registry
in radio button on lower left of dialogue box>save to place appropriate for
you.

I don't know if this will repair your problem that seems to be that Help
Comes up but hyperlinks don't work.

Give it a shot:

Thanks for the encouragement. The REGEDIT thing has always been scary I
guess. I have made changes over the years and they have been successful...it
just makes me nervous.

I'll try this one.

Thanks

Thanks for your help Chad and aabie...

I tried it but it didn't work on my particular problem so I still need some
help from someone.

I'm also experiencing this issue. What I see in my Vista Help system home
page are the six icons under "Find an Answer," but under "Ask Someone" it
shows up as "Use [placeholder-redX] Windows Remote Assistance...." If you
drill further into the Help system the placeholders are everywhere. The fix
Kristan details doesn't resolve this as I've done the registry merge, so I do
think this is a different issue. I've also tried the reset option in the IE7
Advanced tab, running the MS Office 2007 Diagnostic tool, and running sfc
/SCANNOW as administrator to no resolution. I do know that the Help System
was fine after I installed Vista, so something went amiss afterwards. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
