Movie Maker 2.1.4026.0

Dear friends in the newsgroup,
when trying to open the help file MOVIEMK.chm movie maker tells me that the
chm-file is not in the expected directory. Surprisingly the chm-file is
nowhere on the computer.
From where do I get the chm-file?
Thank you for helping me,
Heinrich.

Here's where I find it on my WinXP SP2 system.

C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\MUI\0409\moviemk.chm

If you do not have it...try looking in:
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\moviemk.chm

Copy it from there to the correct location...you may have
to create the MUI\0409 folders.

Hi John,

I was reading your post on the missing moviemk.chm. When I try to get into
MovieMaker I get a notice it has encountered a problem and when I close the
dialogue box MovieMaker closes.

I looked into Movier make and found the MUI folder and opend it to find the
0409 Folder - but when I opened the 0409 folder I found the " moviemk.chm "
file with a big yellow ? mark just to the left of moviemk.chm Can you
please assit me - I would be very thankful for your thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

When you have a question...please begin
a new thread.

You fail to mention your OS...if you are
running Vista...disregard the following
info about IE7.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

===
(You can disable ffdshow with this command:
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
After running that command, the regular
DivX/XviD codecs will be used instead of ffdshow.
You can enable ffdshow again with this command:
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" )
