HI. Can someone help me with a basic question- I have a
program installed on my pc that was put there by a friend
lending me her cd-rom. Its just a local phone book that
can be viewed offline. She since moved away so I cant
borrow her cd-rom to install that same program to my 2nd
pc. My question is this. Can someone show me how to copy
this program to a blank cd so as to be able to install it
to my 2nd pc. I tried different ways and have not
suceeded thus wasting cd's that have to be trashed now
because they wont work. If you can please be a bit
specific and gentle with the terminology, I'd appreciate
it. thanks in advance.

In general you can *not* do this. With the exception of an
occasional very small simple program, pieces of it are scattered
all over your drive (in the registry and elsewhere) and are very
difficult to identify.

You need the original CD (or a copy of it) to install the
program. Assuming that this is freeware and there are no
licensing issues, ask her to make a copy of the CD and send it to
you.
