HELP! Explorer says "done but with error on page" "lib not instal

I'm running XP Home and in ridding the puter of VX2Betternet, Explorer is now not working. I am at this site with Netscape because explorer won't display messages. Tried to re-install explorer and somehow got Yahoo's version of Explorer, and now Microsoft IE6 says a "newer" version of IE is installed and refuses to install IE6. Most every page gives error "Done, but with error on page". Click the error message and it says "Library not installed" . Even the HP support on the puter will not open because Library not installed. HP scanJet won't work properly. Library not installed. Microsoft knowledge no help.. Puter is set for automatic updates from Microsoft. Have tried the script debugging in options. Have tried downloading script, did not help. Have searched internet for Library not installed. No solutions. Is there HELP short of re-formating puter to factory settings??????
 
No other way to repair IE with XP.
