HELP - Excel is recognising a permanent scroll lock ?

Hi,

Slowly going mad.... Every time I go into excel and move
my mouse over the work sheet, it automatically acts as if
it is on some sort of scroll lock. If I click in a cell,
it acts as though I am holding down the mouse button and
selecting an entire range- it will not let me dis-engage.
Until just now I was able to get out of this by going into
task mgr and disabling excel manually... now it won't even
let me do that!
Helpdesk where I am have no idea!
I advised them this seems to happen on warmer days... has
anyone experienced a similar prob ..... could it be
anything to so with my system over heating?
I have checked me mouse connection, made sure my keyboard
isn't on scroll lock. When I restart my computer is solves
the problem temporarily (like about 2 minutes). I don't
think it has anything to do with my keyboard as the only
program affected by this is excel??

Any suggestions apart from throwing this system out my
window would be greatly appreciated :)

Regards,

Claire

Hi Don,

Cheers for your speedy reply - I have tried the F8 key to
no avail.
Just then I was able to shut down excel via task mgr- even
as I did this, task mng was minimised against the excel
background and even when I am moving my mouse over the
task manager area, the background is still being
highlighted on the excel w/sheet????
