Help!!! Error Message KB929729 (code 643)

I keep getting this error message and my computer hasn't been able to update
this thing for months now. I have uninstalled .NET Framework 1.1 thinking it
may had been corrupt or damaged but still no luck. Please help!!!!

You may have to try the instructions given here:

Basically, it involves un-installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack
1.

Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp
Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service
pack 1 (only!).

Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1:

Then run Windows Update again, to install KB929729.
