Hi, i wonder if yet again, anyone can help.
I'm expecting email through regarding holiday query and all of a sudden last night the email stopped working.

I tried to forward an attachment and it hasn't worked since.

How can i get it to work? I'm using Outlook Express

And i keep getting this message
"your SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds..."

I had this problem previously - and you guys very kindly helped me out, but that was incoming only. I've checked the SMTP address and it seems correct.

I'm heading off to work today, but hope to look at this in more detail when i get back.
I hope someone can help - thank you in advance for anyone reading this

You may try connecting to your mail server from command prompt and see if it works. There are couple of ways to try and see at which point it is stucking.

1) Ping yourserveraddress.com

2) Check wheather your mail server DNS record is Okay you can check it by doing nslookup as

nslookup -type=mx yourserver.com

3) If above both tests are okay then try connecting through telnet command as given in Here.

These might be hectic set of commands so you might want to stick on the top 2 suggestions. Good luck.

thanks for the reply - alot of what you said was gobbledegook to me, but thanks anyway. I would have asked you for further details but i managed to delete a file that seemed to be causing the problem and it is now working! STRANGE

anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond

it was a picture file - soemthing about being stressed out and it had a pic of a cat on it. I had received it via email and work and sent it on to my home email, then tried to forward it to my husbands @ work (which is a prison). this is where the file seemed to get stuck, once i deleted the email all the other emails i had sent after that went ok

i must add. i am a complete technophobe, so it was just a fingers crossed, hope this works attempt

 Some time we think in too much depth and it is just a minor issue. Technical reason behind this could be that attachment size is too big.

Any ways Good Luck. :thumb:
