I've got one video file. I want the first part of the video, but i would
like to delete something in the middle, then join the 2 remaing clips into
one clip. I know there was a thread on this a long time ago, but I didn't
understand it. Thanks.

Not hard at all.
In the preview screen on the right there is a button to manually split a
clip.
Watch or navigate the clip to the spot where you want to split it and click
the split clip here button.
Now you should have 2 clips in your collection. Select the 2nd clip and now
navigate to the end of the part you want to remove and click the split clip
button again.
Now you can drag the 1st and 3rd clips to the timeline and your done.
If you are adding more to it then go for it.
If you want to create a quick video for later use with these 2 clips then
save your movie now and import the newly saved video into your collections.

Okay...I understand the clipping and dragging the clips i want to keep to the
timeline, but what do i do now? I want to combine them, but i don't seem to
have that option.

Well you can't "combine" them in the traditional way (right clicking and
selecting "combine") since you are leaving the middle part out. What you
need to do is create a new video clip on your HDD by using WMM.
To do this simply drag clip #1 and clip #3 to the timeline and save your
movie. This will create a WMV or DV-AVI file on your HDD that is comprised
only of the 2 sections of the original clip that you wanted to keep.

I tried that, but when i opened it again, it was still made up of 2 clips. I
must be missing some step.

I think i know the problem. I saved my project instead of saving the movie
file. Is that right?
