hi, it goes like this: the computer froze then I pushed
the power button and close the computer, but when I
opened it again, the computer doesn't preform a computer
scan, nor did it say :"the computer was not properly
shutdown...". Does anyone know how to activate it once
again?
I'm using windows XP.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH!!

I've had to shutdown with reset button a few times and the chkdsk has not
run as expected, I assumed it wasn't requireed.
Anyway you can manually run 'chkdsk' from the 'Properties' of the drive,
select 'Tools' tab, click 'Check Now', click 'Start'.
However if you tick any of the boxes and 'Start', you will be told that it
can only run at next reboot, this do if you wish.

What file system are you using NTFS or FAT32. If it is FAT32, chkdsk
should run at startup for an abnormal termination. NTFS is a more
sophisticated file system and ask a result chkdsk does not need to run
startup after an abnormal termination
