Hi:

Have to add that I may have caused the problem myself when I edited the
registry. Unfortunately, I deleted a number of items that had the
searchcentrix URL in them. And, I think this may have added to the problem.

Any ideas on how to delete IE and then reinstall? I think this will correct
the registry settings.

Thank you very much.

Bob

Deleting/Reinstalling IE won't help, Bob. Check your system for
"hijackware":

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to
use...and I'm quite certain you'll need to use it. HT helps you both
identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Hi:

Ran Hijackware and sent the log file to the discussion forums. Someone
suggested running LSP.fix and that fixed my problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Bob

YW.

Lsp.fix

Repairs Winsock 2 settings, caused by buggy or improperly-removed Internet
software, that result in loss of Internet access
LSP-Fix is a free utility to repair a specific type of problem associated
with certain Internet software. This type of software is known as a Layered
Service Provider or LSP, a piece of software that can be inserted into the
Windows TCP/IP handler like a link in a chain. However, due to bugs in the
LSP software or deletion of the software, this chain can get broken,
rendering the user unable to access the Internet.[/QUOTE]
