Hello all,
I have done this before and it worked GREAT! However that was about 2
years ago. Now I have all the info still on how to do it from the Knowledge
base HOWEVER I go into New Connection wizard, hit Set up an advanced
connection, and on the next screen the "Connect directly to another computer"
option is GREYED out and unselectable. This is the same way on both
computers. Now I know there is something missing somewhere to enable this
but I can't for the life of me find it. Does anyone have the solution?

You don't need to use the New Connection Wizard for a LAN connection.
That Wizard is for setting up other types of connections, such as
parallel and VPN.

Just connect the computers' LAN adapters to each other using a
crossover Ethernet cable.

The Advanced connection option is the wrong choice anyway for LAN
connections. You are trying to set up a basic ethernet connection so the
option you need to use is "Set up a home or small office network".
A crossover cable is required to connect the two computers.
