The problem I am having is that the Editing Software (ImageMixer) that came
with my new Sony DVD camera will only allow be to burn my edited movie back
onto the Camcorder.

So I am following the instructions on how to use the WinDVD Creator
programme that came with my computer.
I open 'Capturing digital camcorder video' and then connect me camcorder to
the PC through the USB port - and nothing appears in the Capture Device
Panel??????
I have checked that the USB is installed properly. What does this mean - do
I need to purchase an upgraded Editing programme???
All I want to be able to do is Edit my home movies and burn them back on to
DVD - using my computers DVD burner

PLEASE HELP

Hi Serina, I read your post and I have the same problem....my cam is Sony DCR
DVD201E, I'm italian (sorry for my bad english) and I check in a lot of
italian's forum but I don't find nobody to help me.........you don't need to
purchase an upgraded Editing programme because the problem is that Windows
Movie Maker don't work with ".vob" file. I hope to finding help in this
forum!!!! Ciao

Hi,

I bought a Sony DVD camcorder last year. Movie Maker is suitable for
working with footage from a DVD camcorder because the video is in MPEG2
format. The USB interface on the camera is for use only with the supplied
ImageMixer software which is dreadful and should be avoided.

I found the best way of editing the footage from these cameras is to put the
DVD disc into your computer and copy the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder onto
another folder on your hard drive. The uses a video editing application
which is specifically designed for the MPEG format. I would highly recommend
the low cost "Womble MPEG Video Wizard" which is available for a 30 day trial
at www.womble.com.

Good luck.

Hi Jonathan, so you suggest me to don't use Windows Movie Maker but Womble
MPEG Video Wizard to edit my movie right?

Check the Importing Source Files > Video > Discs page of my website... it
includes the detailed steps for how I get Sony mini-DVD files into Movie
Maker.

I have a set of 4 discs that I'm doing it with now... after getting them in,
I'm making a set of the videos on mini-DV tapes for future use in projects,
using the easier capture process for me... directly to DV-AVI file.

It was nice to know that I'm not the only one who is finding it difficult.
But I am going to try Jonathans suggestion. I have downloaded the 30 day
free trial tonight - and will get stuck into finding out if it works
tomorrow.
Will keep in touch
Serina

Thank you so much for your suggestions, I am yet to put them into practice.
I have downloaded the 30 day free trial from 'Womble' and I will be in touch
with my results - I hope to have good news :)

Thank you so much for your suggetions!! I have downloaded the 30 day free
trial and will be testing it out tomorrow - I will keep you posted on how I
get on!
Thanks again :)

Could you please help me a little more with copying the contents of the
VIDEO_TS file to the Hard-drive?
I put the disc in, then how do I copy it to the hard drive?

Actually I have figured out how to Copy that folder - with a little help
from my husband!! Thought he was useful for something! haha

HELP!
So what if when I put the disc in and the Folder is DVD_RTAV instead of
VIDEO_TS - (whats the difference) this has happened one of my DVD-RW discs,
what do I do?? or what have I not done?
