I am trying to locate freeware help desk software for a small computer
services company [primarily computer service/repair and consulting] -
windows platform preferred. Any ideas, or suggestions are welcome. Could
probably develop our own system, but would prefer to direct our energies
to the business at hand.

Uh, OK this is for writers.
....and librum became sort of an inhouse joke "Librium" Who looks up
cases by the number?

When I started running Helpdek 6 years ago, we couldn't find one we
liked. Eventually gave up and wrote our own.

I took a look now and it looks like the LBE freeware thing isn't bad -
I'd use it. Active Job Queue, Tickets easy to log. Contact
information. Solutions. Small but fast, esp. If you're logging a
ticket with the customer on the phone.
Runs off an access DB, which might need MS jet support to run on a
Win95-98 system. Reporting is zilch, but with an access DB you could
pull the data into Excel and do your own.
