Help-defaulting to intranet

When I launch IE, it automatically defaults to the local intranet instead of
the internet. Consequently, it won't display any webpages the first time I
try to go there. If I push stop then go again, it will eventually switch to
the internet. Obviously, this isn't the preferred method to surf the web.

The computer is on a company network with a Windows 2003 server, installed
about a month ago. Currently running XP Professional on the workstation.
Everything worked fine until we switched from satellite to DSL for our
internet service.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you click on Tools - Internet Options - On general tab - what does it
show as the home page? Try changing it to
http://www.google.com and see if you can then open straight to Google or if
you still go to the intranet first.
