I've got an HP Omnibook 500 which had one of its SODIMMs fail, this
led to a failure in updating one of the HP diagnostics utilities and
this destroyed the partition structure of the drive (the HP
diagnostics are stored on their own partition).
I've had a look at it with The Partition Resizer and I can see the FAT
tables (format was FAT32 LBA and the OS was Windows 98SE) but I can't
seem to get to a stage where I can re-establish the partitions.
Everything I've tried (including all the utils on The Ultimate Boot CD
and Partition Magic 8.0's boot disk) shows it as having no partitions
and that's all - only the aforementioned utility can see the FATs and
that's all.
Can anyone recommend a good utility to attempt this recovery? I'm not
looking for something to build the drive for long term use, I just
want to get the data files off it so that I can fry it and rebuild it
from its original image CD.
Thanks
