However coincidental it might be, after downloading quite
a few MicroSoft Updates at one time, one of our computers
will not re-boot, and we're getting the message "Windows
2000 could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt: '<windows 2000 root>\system32
\ntoskrnl.exe' Please re-install a copy of the above
file."
The weird thing is, the EXACT same thing happened to one
of our identical units about 6 months ago, ALSO after DL-
ing several MS Updates at one time. We lost all data on
that unit, as Dell told us the operating system had to be
re-loaded. The units are Dell desktop Pentium 4, 1.4 Ghz,
running Windows 2000.
Has anyone had a similar experience, who can help?? Have
we lost everything again? Is there any way of saying this
unit as is? If you have any suggestions, please keep them
elementary, as I'm a novice!
