I have 3 computers all running Windows 2000 and when I connect to one of
them it asks for a username and password which I enter in and gain access to
that pc, but on restart I have to go through the procedure again and when I
want to print to a printer connected to another computer pc via the network
it will not print until I goto that computer via network neighbourhood and
enter the username and password, is there a way I can do all this with
entering passwords etc?

Thanks
Clayton

In a workgroup environment, in order to connect to another PC without
entering a user name and password you need to make sure that the name and
password you're using on the guest PC matches a name and password on an
account on the host PC. So, if you're logged in at PC "A" with the name
"Clayton" and the password "password" and you want to access a
folder/printer on PC "B", you must create a user account on PC "B" with the
name "Clayton" and the password "password". This is done in the Control
Panel with the Users and Passwords tool.

If the username and password account has been created on each machine does
the user need to logon with that username and password or is it still ok to
logon as Administrator and <your password>?

Nope, because when your computer goes out to the network it will go out
there with Administrator and <your password>, not the shared one. You
could, of course, use the known logon to connect to shares - when the box
pops up asking for a username and password, use the known common account to
connect. The only problem with this is that each time you reboot or log off
and on you'll need to re-input the password to re-connect to your shares.

Yes, the client PC must be using a login known to the host PC.
