I have recently installed a fresh copy of xp home on a new computer. I cannot get it to see my linksys router to connect to the Internet. I have one other computer on the router and it works fine.

The connection appears to be fine, I see the message (icon) identifying the 1394 connection and all the leds are active on the router. I have another computer running on the router fine. The computer I am trying to connect was running linux (now xp) and it connected fine before. (I have completely removed linux and reformatted the drive)

I have also compared the settings of the two computers and they appear to be identical. I'm sure there is something very simple I am missing.

Thanks for your help

No

That is the notation next to the icon in the network connections page. Actually, I think it is the net adater. It says 1394 Connection enaabled 1394 net adapter

Interesting..
So does that mean that windows is seeing the connection as a firewire connection? I do not have anything other than the ethernet cord plugged in, and nothing is installed on the system other than xp.
