I decided I needed to upgrade my Display card so I install a Gforce
4000 card. I then lost my sound so go to device settings and I find
that my sound card had a yellow flag. I then went and bought a new
sound card Sound blaster 24 bit to replace the 16 bit card. That took
care of the yellow flag OK but I still had no sound, I re installed
the drivers to no avail. I then run a SFC/scannow and that did not
help either. I then proceeded to do a repair install. It went fine
until the last boot and now I am in loop and can not boot with any of
the options listed.
I am in desperate need of advice to get my computer up and running
again.
My computer is Gateway 1100 I have XP pro installed with all the
patches. Memory is 768 meg.

Try power off, remove sound card and install in other pci slot,on restart,
enter to BIOS,install xp cd,select to boot to cd,at xp cd info screen
select r
for recovery,in recovery type:1 for C: drive, press enter key for
password,then
type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru (12-20 min),type:EXIT Let xp start,remove
cd.

I did all of that and to no avail. I am still in a loop can't boot.
Any other ideas.
