I have student records on Access database. Student 1st and 2nd year results
are held on two different tables for each year. I can generate report like
these (shown below) for each year. Once I done this I want to print all 200
records combining students results for 1st and 2nd year. Currently I can
only print the all the 1st year, but can't combine 1st and 2nd year and the
subtotal mark. I want for all the students records to be printed on this
format their 1st year follow by 2nd year and do the same for next students
200 students. Any help on this is welcome!!

First year mark

StudeID Subjects Mark

10025 Law1 101

10025 maths 100

10025 art 109

10025 RE 100

Second Year Mark

10025 Law1 100

10025 maths 100

10025 PE 100

Sha,

To begin with, your two-table design is sub-optimal. Ideally you sould have
all results in one table, with an extra field to hold the year for each
record. I strongly suggest you do this, then your report is easy to produce,
and so will be any future requirement you may have.
Make a new table by copying the design of one of the existing ones, and add
a filed for the year. Then make an append query to append all records from
each existing table in turn to the new table, and use a calculated field to
populate the year record (something like Expr1: "First", Expr1: "Second").
When done populating the new table and are happy that it's OK you no longer
need the two old ones or the query, so you can get rid of them.
Next, use the report wizzard to make your report, and make it group first by
Student and then by Year, and that's all there is to it!

Nikos
