I need to know how to clear the list of recently run
applications when using Start/Run command in XP.

Hi April,

You can use the "clear" button in Taskbar and Start Menu settings, but that
clears a number of different things. To selectively delete items, clear the
corresponding strings from this key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

Hi April,

Delete the value corresponding to the command you want to remove, or remove
all the entries to clear the list completely.

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\RunMRU

Or you use this small utility I wrote that would automate the process:

Clear Recent File Lists (Line 41)

/top10faqs.htm

Open IE > Tools > Options > Clear History
This would clear the RunMRU also.
Logoff and log back in.
