A few months ago we sold a huge pile of computers to a big customer as part
of a Win XP training project. The computers have the Intel D915 motherboard,
which has since been discontinued and the production line disassembled...no
warranty replacements. Intel will us for the D101GGC, but that board
presents issues I cannot describe here. We do not want to use that board.

Is there another low-end Intel board that will be around for a year or so?
Soon as I'm done writing I'm off to search their site, but someone out there
must have run into this D915 thing as well.

What about another low-end, good quality board that has a year left in its
lifetime? MSI? Asus?

Note that I'm not looking for one board, or even ten. I'm looking for more
than a thousand.

Thanks, I'll be looking at that in more detail very soon.

In the meantime, it looks like our limitation is the DDR memory (2.6v) in
the 915 mobos. Very few new boards support DDR anymore. (glad I wasn't in on
these decisions...)

We've historically done well with Intel, up to three years on warranties,
but the problem now is that they completely eliminated the 915 chipset
technology. There are no replacement chips, thus no replacement boards.

That Gigabyte board looks great...thanks for the link. Will it support a
2.6v DDR memory stick? I think that's our sticking point.

I think Kerry is on the right track, call Gigabyte Sales and Tech. support,
my experience has been positive.
With the quantity of boards you are looking to support they may provide just
the help you need.

Asus has some motherboards that support DDR memory including some using
the 915 series of chipsets.

Yes, I saw those, but according to Intel the 915 chipset is history. It's
just a matter of time before nobody has them.

Thanks for the help guys, I was able to offer the bosses some good advice.
