I have tried to run CHKDSK several times this morning for
my routine maintenance. However, when it starts running,
it immediately gives an error "cannot open volume for
direct access. Windows has finished checking this disk"
Can anyone help me out, please?

You cannot run chkdsk /f on a system volume from Windows. It will be
scheduled to run the next time you start Windows.

Thanks, but I started CHKDSK that way and got this
error. I do this maintenance often and have never gotten
this error. I have set it up to run on restart several
times today, and every time the same problem. Never had
this before...
