I'm not able to unhide my hidden rows. I follow the directions and select
the row above and the row below the hidden rows, then choose
Format/rows/unhide. And nothing happens! This feels related to my earlier
posting "autofilter does't work."

I am able to enter data, make new rows, and so on.

Try selecting the row above and below and choose Format/Rows/Height and
set the height to something > 0.

couple of more things to consider:

Perhaps unprotect the sheet, tools, protection, unprotect sheet

Do you see blue column and row headers instead of black,
that would indicate you have a filter in effect.

When I tried changing the height to 15, it just made the two visible rows ,
row 51 and row65, shorter. It didn't reveal the hidden ones. As for
filter, the row headers are not blue. Anyway, you'd think it would have to
change what appears if you switch from "bland" to "non-blank."

When I clicked Tools/protection, the only options were to protect. But I
protected, saved, and unprotected. Still can't filter or unhide.

When I do that it only makes the visible rows above and below the hidden
ones shorter. It doesn't unhide the hidden ones. I didn't mention that I'm
now working with a new installation of Excel. I'm not really sure if it is
a later version, but my laptop crashed and I have Windows XP and Office 2000
Pro now. I did have Windows 2000 and Office 2000 Pro. But I've
experimented and other old spreadsheets seem to work as expected.

Perhaps you might hava a macro which keeps the rows hidden?...........if you
want to recover the data in the hidden rows, you should be able to use a
simple formula like =A52, and copy it over and down to account for the area
now hidden..........

Make sure the rows aren't set to a very small height. They may be "visible",
but still "invisible". Unhide them, then set the height of the same rows to
(say) at least 10. See if that workks.

Is the "Unhide" greyed out?
If so then the Book/Sheet is protected.
"Tools-->Protection" and unprotect.

Maybe the rows are not hidden but resized to 0. Select
the row above and below then resize those rows.
