Hi,

I am accessing the newsgroups through the Microsoft website at :

www.support.microsoft.com

and then signing in and going to the appropriate thread to post my questions.

However, lately I have trouble seeing my posts... when I double click on the
post, I
am supposed to get in to my original post and then scroll down to the
feedback postings from individuals that are answering my post!

However when I double click on my post, I can only see my post on a small
window on the right bottom of the screen... Its no more like before...

Apparently, I have been told that this has something to do with the news
reader settings.

So I did open a MS Outlook news group account and selected the

microsoft.public.vc.language

I also posted a test question and then I did synchronize, however, why does
the test post not show up in the MS news groups, it only shows up in my
MS Outlook news account?

Can someone Please help me with some detailed solutions to
this problem!

Thankyou all!

I saw that especially with the early IE7 beta too,
(which reminds me I had better do some more testing
of the latest version again without using tabs. <w>)
I'm not sure why those particular windows sometimes get so tiny.

What I do when I get them is use Fullscreen (press F11).
In IE7 you can only have one window in Fullscreen mode
but in IE6 you can have as many as you want.

In general when you have trouble with window sizes
what you can do is: resize the window, close all *other* windows
and then close the resized window. Provided closing that window
also removes iexplore.exe from Task Manager's list of Processes
the preference should be saved.

However, you can't make your preference apply to all windows.
Some windows are sized by the application which creates them.

I'm not sure which category these "full thread" windows falls into.

Apparently, I have been told that this has something to do with the news
reader settings.

I suspect that whoever said that was unaware that you were referring
to opening threads in the Communities web interface to newsgroups
(rather than using OE as your newsreader, for example.)

So I did open a MS Outlook news group account and selected the

microsoft.public.vc.language

Now you are referring to using Outlook Express
(which provides the newsreader for Outlook)?

Perhaps you should be posting instead in
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

You need to clarify what you are doing.

FYI there was a post from someone called "Robby"
to that newsgroup.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.vc.language/msg/1e3cdb0868fecc6e?dmode=source

(Google Groups search for
author:Robby group:microsoft.public.vc.language
- sorted by date
- Show Original used in options of selected post
)

The Message-ID shows that the post was made using an ISP's news server.
Using your ISP's news server might be one explanation for why you could
not download your post.

In order to read from and post to Microsoft newsgroups it would be much
better to use this server instead:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/

Click on that link and a new news account will be created for you.
You could subscribe to your microsoft newsgroups through it.
You may wish to customize the Properties before posting with it though.

In case you have more questions about using OE it would be best
to post them in an OE newsgroup but I am crossposting this
(confusing) thread there just in case someone else there has
other suggestions for you.

Thankyou all!
