Just got new A7N8X-D and AMD 2400+ for Christmas.
I transferred Nvidia graphics board,floppy, CD-rom and
system ide boot drive from old winxp pro system after first removing
all the startup processes such as Norton anti virus, etc.
After checking bios stuff and all ok, tried a safe VGA boot to
Windows. Drivers loaded ok and system started to switch to
win gui. I then get a blue screen text message and system reboots.
Can't read message because It flashes too quick. I can't
find any boot log entries or system event messages.
I believe hardware ok because it boots DOS form old 98 boot floppy,
98 dos cd, and windows xp pre installation environment from a Super
Win PE cd.
I hesitate to burn all my bridges and screw around with reloading
xp from original xp cd over old system.
If anyone can tell me how to read the blue screen message,
maybe I could isolate the problem. Could missing hardware
such as SCSI controllers, etc cause a problem even on a SAFE
boot? TIA for your patience.
