HELP cannot reinstall norton

Please help i need your help urgently, i have just installed a game when i noticed that norton anti virus had disabled itself when i tried to open it, it said that some of the files were missing or corrupt and that i should reinstall which i tried to do.i uninstalled both norton anti virus and norton system works and then tried to reinstall them both, i got part way through the installation when it got to ccApp part it said that there was an error and it had to close, i have tried to do a roll back and then install noton system works again which it sort of did i ran a one button check up it did fix some problems so then i tried to install the anti virus again but it failed then when i tried to open norton system works again it couldnt find it, it said something about not being able to find the pathways please help as i dont know what to do
 
bloody crap ...

Check with one of the on-line virus scanners like HouseCall ... if all is clear and you have no virus/trojan that turned Norton off, then bin Norton ... this "software" is getting a pain in the butt.

You should find a "clean-up tool" on the CD that will/should eradicate Norton off your system ... if not on the CD you'll find it on Norton's website. Sad, you have to have a "tool" to clean it up. :rolleyes:

Download CCleaner & run it, just to make sure, and then Defrag

Then download and install AntiVir ... it's less intrusive, does a better job, and is free. :D

Hi just to tell you that i had to format, i did try every thing but by then whatever it was was replacing windows files, taken spybot of and every thing thing i had tried to download disappeared before i could use it, it was also turning off windows firewall and updates. don't know what it was but it was bad.

A Trojan probably ... which one I have no idea, but they infect your system by hiding in another program.

At least you now know how 'good' Norton is ... ;)
 
ha yes, norton is pretty awful overall. which version of norton do you have?

i have 2004 and still running strong ;);)
 
between you and me (:p), i buy certain £3 versions from ebay every year...

and every year it is the same. there are never any further changes, they just stick the latest year on the end and get more money...
