I cannot open my database and cannot import tables into a
new database.
Has anyone seen this error message:
"THIS DATABASE IS IN AN UNEXPECTED STATE; MICROSOFT ACCESS
CAN'T OPEN IT.
The database has been converted from a prior version of
Access by using the DAO CompactDatabase method instead of
the Convert Database command on the Tools menu. This has
left the database in a partially converted state.
If you have a copy of the database it it's original
format, use the Convert Database command on the Tools menu
to convert it. If the original database is no longer
available, create a new database and import your tables
and queries to preserve your data. Your other database
objects can't be recovered."

I cannot import the tables or get to anything in the
database.
Somebody PLEASE HELP!!! What do I do? How do I get to my
data?!?!

Doing what you did converts the Jet (tables) portion of the mdb file, not the Access (forms, reports, etc.) portion of the mdb file.

Your mdb file is in a half converted, half not converted state. Basically hosed.

How about going to your backup? Surely you didn't do any kind of conversion without making a backup. (And whether this is a
production database or just a database still in development, you should be making nightly backups anyway. Worse case you loose one
day's worth of data.)

If you didn't make any backups, take a look at http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm. Maybe one of Tony's suggestions will
help.

If none of Tony's suggests help, it's really important stuff, and you didn't make a backup, at the bottom of Tony's page is a list
of companies that will attempt to recover the file for you.

Good luck.
