Hi, All:
I am stuck with my laptop now. :( I have a Sony VAIO laptop. It came
with Windows ME, and I changed the OS to Win 2000. It worked fine for
me for about 2 years until last week.
Here is what happened step by step:
1). It first started to complaint that it cann't find some dll files
for some applications, and acting very slowly, (looks like the hard
disk was having trouble to read some places.) At first I thought it is
because of the spyBlocking software I installed, which isolated some
files because it thought they are spying, although I didn't see those
missing files in its list. Finally I decided to restart the machine.
2). While rebooting, it complaints that it couldn't find boot.ini
file. I don't have a boot disk handing at that moment, and somehow
decide to use the application recovery CDs (came together with the
laptop) to try to reboot it. (I guess it was a wrong decision.)
3). The recovery CDs runs, and asked me to add a DOS partition to the
system. I chose Yes, then it reaches the steps asking me to clean all
the data on C drive. I chose No, since I want my data there.
4). I reboot the machine without the recovery CD, now it complaints
that it could not find operating system.

What should I do now?? Where can I download the boot.ini file for Sony
VAIO?? I don't want to lose the data on C drive for sure......
Thank you for any suggestion!

Best,
Weiping
