I have a Dell machine located on a small peer to peer
network. I have a need to change the tcp/ip settings on
this machine to establish a new subnet for use with a new
network configuration (moving from large, routed WAN to
LAN w/DSL router).
The problem is, I can't change any of the tcp/ip
information for the network adaptor. When I try to access
the tcp/ip properties page, I get an error message that
says "You must install a network interface card to modify
tcp/ip properties". But... The NIC is installed and
configured already! It's been up and operating on the
network for a number of months now, ipconfig shows all of
the proper ip configuration information for the current
network setup, but I can't even change the information
using netsh. I found some entries in the registry that
looks like I'd be able to modify to change to DHCP instead
of static, but not having done reg hacks for NIC settings
before, I'm hesitant to try it. Any ideas?
