Allright guys,
I've got this error to come up on a blue screen when I
boot up, unmountable boot volume. So I do a search on the
web and figure out some ways to get past this. I
downloaded the XP boot information onto 6 floppy disks
(don't have a cd) to use on my home pc. It boots up just
fine and goes to the Windows Recovery Console. There I am
supposed to do a chkdsk \p or chkdsk\r to solve the
problem. This is my stopping point.
I go to do the chkdsk \p and \r and it says it can not
find the autochk.exe file in the startup directory and for
me to type the directory of the file, which through the
web I have found out to be c:\windows\system32. This did
not work. I also downloaded the autochk file onto a
floppy and tried it that way as well, but I then get a
message that says ..."error reading disk", and something
or another about not being able to read the file system.
I'm just at a loss now at what to do. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.
