HELP - BADMBR - How to Fix??

Hello All,

OK, I have an external HD connected via firewire. During my setup, errors
have come up. Partition Magic 8 says I have a "BADMBR". I have attempted to
fix via the emergency disks, but the drive doesn't show up. I have tried
chkdsk, no fix.

I read somewhere about a recovery console, but my XP is via my PC's recovery
disks.

How do I go about fixing this major issue, BADMBR? HELP, HELP!!!

Can someone shed the light for me.

you really should toss
that partition magic into
to middle of the ocean.

normally a fixmbr would
be the command to use via
emergency disk.

however, it might be likely
that the ntfs crashed.

go to acronis dot com and
download acronis disk director
trial version.

it will not repair the corruption
without purchase. however, the
trial version will show you evidence
that the disk might be repairable
as a result of a crashed ntfs....

Thanks.. FIXED the problem using CMDM. Why it evaded me I have no idea. I
guess it was one of those things where you cannot see the trees through the
forest.

Bottom line, all is working and functional once again! The morning "VISTA"
is out with the sun shinning and NO bad weather insight!

you're welcome.

your version of pm
lacks the updated codes
to rebuild the mbr after
it resizes your ntfs disk
space. i think the latest
version for the same o.s.
is 9 or 10.

this link will lead you
to a freeware that is
likely an better alternative:
