I used 2 HP printers before and found them pretyy good, but im not sure on
the new stuff, seen a couple fo grumbles along the line of good hardware,
shit software/drivers. I was looking at the HP 1610.
I have the Canon MP760 my self, there are three models in the current
lineup... the mp750 which in the states can be had for dirt cheap with
a sheet feeder on top, the mp760 which sports a 35mm and slide scanner,
and the mp780 which sports the sheat feeder and fax modem. While you
*could* order one from the states, near as I'm aware the US models
don't include the spiffy auto switching power supplies available on
other markets, and the CD-tray isn't included. But unfortunatly the
only place I know of that has the mp750 for us$100 / AUD $125 doesn't
offer international shipping, otherwise $125 + another $150 to ship +
$30 for the auto switching power supply might not be a bad deal,
assuming i'm current in thinking that aud$400 is the normal price.
The mp760 was to replace an old hp950 which technicaly is in working
condition just the scanner was starting to become flacky in winxp. The
winover for me was the lost cost/page.
But a good reason to consider HP over Canon right now is the fact that
HP seems to be hip to making xp-64 drivers for their products where
canon seems to have no plans to.
