When I go to 'Help and Support', in the bottom right hand corner under
the Heading 'Did You Know', is a message - "When you are connected to
the Internet, this area will display links to timely help and support
information".

However, I have an 'always on' DSL Connection.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

I'm going to assume that you can browse the internet just fine with IE, in
other words, your internet connection is functionsing properly.

Things to try:
Open Help and Support and try one of the other internet links - Windows
Update in the Pick a task section.
If this successfully goes to Windows Update then close Help and Support and
open it again.

If you can't get to Windows Update you should get prompted to run the
Network Connection Wizard - do so.

If you can get to Windows Update in Help and Support but still don't get
anything in the Did you know? section, then click Start Run and type cmd /c
del %windir%\pchealth\helpctr\Config\newsset.xml and press Enter. Then
re-launch Help and Support Center.
