Help and Support.....GONE!!

Glen

I hope someone out there can help me. I cannot access
Help and Support on my Start Menu on Win XP. When I click
Help and Support a window box pops up that says "Windows
cannot find 'helpctr.exe' Make sure you typed the name
correctly, and then try again. To search for a file,
click the Start button, and then click Search."
Is there a way I can get Help and Support back?
I tried System Restore but it didn't work.

Hi,
check if it exists in the folder:
%SystemRoot%\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries

If it's not missing try renaming it to Helpctr.old and rebooting you
computer.

If it's missing try expanding it via msconfig (Start/Run:)
It's located in <cd drive:>\i386 and it's called: HELPCTR.EX_

Also check that Registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
it should contain Reg Key: Helpctr.exe
It's default value should be:
%SystemRoot%\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries\Helpctr.exe
