I am using Outlook Express 6 for Window 98, and I use to save all email on
e:\email directory. Once I reinstall window 98, and update IE6, then I try to
change the directory for email folder. It requests something, and I
accidently click the yes button, then all my email records are gone. Does
anyone know on how to restore those past email records.
Thank you in advance
Eric

Hi Eric,

First of all, was the prompt which you received when you were working with
Outlook Express related to 'Compacting'?
Anyways to check if you still have the data files on your computer, run a
search for the files '*.dbx'
Make sure the search is performed for hidden files/ system files too.
You can refer the following link for additional information.

Thank you for your reply
I have search for .dbx files for all harddrive, e:\email folder is the only
place where I can find *.dbx files, which usually contain over 100MB email,
but now this folder only contains a few KB. Do you have any suggestion?
Could you please tell me how to search for hidden files/ system files?

Hi

Since you are working on Windows 98, try selecting 'Sub-folders' in the
Search Window' and also go to My Computer> View> Folder Options> Views> And
select Hidden files and folders'.

Run a search and check if you can locate any files.

Thanks,

Mittu

The default has been set to display all files, do you have any more suggestion?
Thank you
Eric
