Got home from work and trying to get my MP3 player driver CD to work!

It is a little CD and it wirrs a lot when I put it in but nothing happens. I'm told when i plug the MP3 player in the back it should recognise this and prompt me to install the drivers and will then set up my MP3 as a new drive whenever I plug it in? Is this right?

I've gone into the D: drive and explored and run a Setup.exe for a File Editor but don't know how to run the CD to install the drivers!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Just plug it in and see if it is recognised as a removable storage device and see if an icon for a new drive appears in My computer next to your A: icon...

is it a flash drive i.e. yoiu plug the whole MP3 player straight into the PC, or do you use a cable?

Windows XP?

Did you try a different USB port?

I'm pluggin it straight in the back. I have an old pc (Pent III 500mhz with Win 98) I'm afraid. My D: drive has always been a little dodgy.

Th instructions I have are minimal and seem to be roughly translated from Chinese!

Any tips mate would be gratefully received.

Afraid I gotta go round the girlfriends now! Will keep trying I guess.

Cheers anyhow.

Do you know what version of Windows 98 you have? I seem to remember there were some problems with Windows 98 and USB?

If it is win98 the drivers need to be installed first before the gadget is plugged in unlike windows XP which recognises usb gadgets when connected.

Hi guys.

It's Win98 (I think Version 2 if that makes sense?) .

The problem I have is that the manual is minute and not very comprehensive - no troubleshooter etc...!

I have sometimes had problems in the past with my D: drive reading disks. The manual seems to say that I need to plug the MP3 into the USB and then put the disk in. When I did this the first time, the PC seemed to recognise it but I did not get the option to install the drivers using any wizard. Now nothing happens.

I have opened the CD manually and clicked Setup.exe for the MP3 Editor and this has installed.

I am still unsure how to manually install the driver / other software.

Thanks
