HELP!! Adobe Flash Not Working on Sony Website

I am running XP Home & IE7, and I have the new version of Adobe Flash. (9, 0,
115, etc). The Sony Website keeps telling me I need Flash to run their site
(www.sonyrewards.com/en/home/wof/). Now, I tried Uninstalling & Reinstalling
Flash with the Adobe website tools. Didn't help. So, I uninstalled it again,
then:

I also read on these help pages somewhere that you needed to delete some
registry entries. First, I backed up those entries & deleted them. (In
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia I removed the Flash Key and Flash
Update Key, as well as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} which
Adobe recommended be deleted). Reinstalled Flash. Still didn't work.

At this point, I reinstated the registry entries, since deleting them didn't
do any good & maybe they were needed.

I have tried disabling the pop-up blocker, running IE without any add-ons,
changing the security settings, making the site a "trusted" site -- and the
freaking thing keeps telling me I need Flash. Also some Script error: Line 2
Char 1 Error Syntax error Code 0.

I'd like to add that Flash works everywhere else. Adobe detects it from
their website, their little movies run, etc. Tried contacting the website &
they are useless beyond belief ("we can't assist you. Sorry.")

Can anybody help? This is driving me crazy - plus I really love to visit
this website. I still suspect that this is an Adobe/IE problem.

Install Firefox and go get Adobe Flash for it.
See if that works - if it does - then your suspicion is correct. ;-)

Some sites require JavaScript in order for Flash to work. Do you have
JavaScript enabled?
 
Hi, Daave: I have been reading some of your responses on other flash problem
questions, and you are very helpful. Yes, I have the most updated Java
program available. I am beginning to think it's the website.
(www.sonyrewards.com/en/home/wof/). I don't know, I'm at the end of my rope
 
I was referring to JavaScript, not Java. Do you have it enabled?

Are you using a Hosts file? Perhaps there's something in it preventing
everything on that page from loading properly. Maybe Google-Analytics?

Finally, Adobe admitted there are sometimes issues with the most recent
version of Flash and IE7. You actually may need to *revert* to Version
8!

Or, as Shenan suggested, use another browser, such as Opera or Firefox.

FWIW, I'm able to see the Flash content on that page. But right now I'm

I finally got the problem solved - I decided to call Sony on the
old-fashioned telephone lines and talk to them about it. The little nimrod
there (sorry - he had an attitude) told me to delete all my temporary
internet files & all my cookies. I went ahead and deleted my history as well,
and you know what? The dang thing worked! His explanation was that sometimes
cookies interfere with Flash. Well, after all that, the simplest thing worked.

Anyway, Daave, you are a prince for trying to help me with this, I seriously
appreciate your help. and by the way, I don't know what what java script is,
but I guess now I don't need to. Thanks again, the world needs more people
like you!!! :)

You're welcome, Katie. Sorry I zoned out on suggesting clearing your
cache/cookies. Also, sometimes when you do that, it's best to close the
browser before doing so.

Anyway, glad it's working for you now. :-)
