HELP!! Add/Remove Messed up!

I recently updated to Windows XP Pro SP2, and then IE7 Beta, and Windows
Media Player 11.

Now, when I look at the Add/Remove dialogue in Control Panel, all the
programs are there, but most are missing the change and remove buttons. I
see no way to uninstall them.

I tried a couple third party uninstallers, and those don't even show most of
my programs. Only a few programs are listed there (including WMP11).

What could have happened to my Add/Remove Programs? How can I fix this?

Thank you for the suggestions (Rich and PA), but neither of them helped with
this problem.

Any other suggestions?

I tried System Restore also, to several prior restore points, and none
worked, always ending with the result that my system was not restored. I
have no idea what caused this problem.
