help accessing my documents on network

I have networked my laptop (xp home) and my desktop (xp

pro). My wife and I use both computers and what I am
trying to do is access my documents on the destop

without anybody else being able to access and work with
items in MY document folder on the desktop. I'm at a
loss as to how to do this. Everything I have tried then
opens them up to everybody else
