hi all ,
i set up a pc with A7V8X-MX, and AMD2100+, Windows XP with SP1,
now my problem is i plug my Panasonic DCM F1-A Didital Camera in to the USB
port (Even the USB Storage drive also can't use !! because can't find the
driver!!), the window can't find the driver!! but this cam can use without
any problem with another old pc (P2-500, with a USB -PCI card , and Windows
XP without SP1, and also no need any driver!! )

Please help!!

Are you using the USB 2.0 ports? If so, you may need to load the USB
2.0 drivers from the motherboard's driver CD.

thanks your reply..
ok.. the usb port is Ver 2.0, but he Panasonic DCM F1-A Didital Camera is
use USB 1.0, so the windows can't let me install the USB ver1.0 driver CD
come with the camera!! and i also try to install the USB 2.0 driver (from
the motherboard's driver CD). but still can't use the camera....
what is the problem??

thanks....

Have you looked in the Device Manager, to see what drivers are loaded
and whether they are working or not ? Are any USB devices listed ?

In the BIOS, under Advanced:PCI_Configuration is "Assign IRQ for USB",
and that should be [Enabled]. I don't think the "USB Resume from S3"
is crucial to getting USB to work. And ignore the USBMan advice on the
web pages below about disabling ACPI, as that can cause you a world
of grief with your already installed OS. (If you mess up ACPI, do a
google search on "dumppo.exe".)

The USBPWRxx headers should have jumpers installed on them. The
USB ports cannot work unless operation from +5V or +5VSB is enabled
with a jumper. A lack of jumpers on these ports means the USB devices
you plug in will get no power.

For WinXP SP1, you might try windowsupdate, to see if there is
a driver to be installed.

http://www.usbman.com/USB 2 News.htm

This page gives instructions to delete the old USB devices in
Device Manager (in Safe Mode), so that any new drivers you install
(via Windows Update or otherwise), will get properly used.
Sometimes the old driver "hangs around" until it is kicked out.
Do this anytime after installing the new drivers, so the drivers
will be ready to be rediscovered from the boot disk.

http://usbman.com/Guides/Cleanup Device Manager Safe Mode.htm

Once you get the Device Manager entries looking good, then it is
time to install the camera software. After that, try plugging in
the camera, and any automated picture download software should be
automatically triggered by the insertion of the camera (you may
have to switch the camera on after inserting the USB cable, to
activate the USB interface on the camera).

HTH,
Paul

thanks... i will try it...

Are ANY of your USB ports working? If not, you may need to change jumpers
for the power for the USB ports because my Grandma's A7V8X-X has that
problem. I couldn't get any of the USB ports to work at all until changed
the jumpers. (It was showing the USB ports on the computer and working
properly, but the weren't until I did so)
