I can only get the worksheet I was working on to appear
when I go to print preview. There I have no problem
zooming the sheet in or out. However, when I go back to
the active screen the worksheet disappears and there is
just a blank screen. Many thanks for your help.

Check that the font color is not white. If it is and the
black/white box is checked in the page setup, that could
cause your problem.

I'm going to guess that the document window for this workbook isn't maximized
within the Excel application window, and it's been obscured somehow within that
latter window. When you click on Window in the menu bar, do you see an entry for
your file? If so, click on that entry. If you see nothing on screen, hold down
an [Alt] key and press the [- \ _] key (the one on the typewriter portion of the
keyboard between the [0 \ )] and [= \ +] keys). This should display the document
window's menu. Click on either Maximize or Move. If you click on Move, use your
cursor/arrow keys (the inverted T to the left of the numeric keypad) to move the
document window into view - you'll have to experiment to find out which way to
move it.
